Who is eligible to participate in the Smart Logistics Challenge?

Students who meet the following criteria are eligible to compete:

  • Business and engineering students from across Europe that are enrolled in a university progamme at any level.
  • Students pursuing any business or engineering-related degree.
  • Students can participate either individually or in teams of maximum two (2) members.
  • Students from the following countries are eligible to compete:
    • 28 EU countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom.
    • Non EU countries: Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, Turkey and Russia.
Can I enter the competition as individual?

Yes. We accept entries from both individuals and teams of up to 2 members. If competing as a team, you must pick a team leader who will be responsible for the registration and all the communication regarding this challenge.

Do I need to provide proof of enrollment?

If you are selected as a finalist, you need to provide an official document from your university confirming your enrollment and student status. The document can be obtained from your student services centre, international office or one of your professors.

What can I win?

Six winners from Europe will win a six-month paid traineeship with one of these top companies in Europe: Balyo, Linde, SSI Schaefer Group, Stow, Toyota Material Handling and Vanderlande. All the winners will also receive a VIP Invitation (including travel & accommodation) to the FEM Congress due to take place on 13-14 September 2018 in Antwerp, Belgium. There, they will connect with top leaders of the materials handling industry in Europe and their potential employers. During the FEM Congress you as winner will be invited to a CEO lunch, Gala dinner and have a special site visit during the Congress.

With the TrendSpotter Award, public voting will reward an exceptional idea. The recipient of the TrendSpotter Award will also win a VIP Invite to the FEM Congress.

How will submissions be screened?

  • In the first round the jury will select the top entries based on the quality of their initial case submissions and eligibility compliance. These students will then compete in the second round.
  • In the second round, students will be asked to refine their project. They will be helped by a mentor from one of the partner companies.
  • The jury will select the winners.
