Shared 3D Printing for The Maritime Logistics Industry
Logistics in a sharing economy
In an industry where downtimes are extremely expensive and the uncertain availability of spares makes their resolution largely unpredictable and costly, 3D printing is knocking on the door to provide a faster, better, and economically more viable solution. However, due to the knowledge gap between demand and supply, there is nobody to open the door to the benefits of this new technology. To tackle this issue, we propose a platform-based aggregation of potential supply into a global, quality-validated network, and adding the sufficient maritime knowledge to it to enable the industry to cut repair lead times and thus save tremendous costs of downtimes.
